Phillips put Tonkawa on top, 3-1, with the opening goal of the second chukker when foul trouble came back to haunt them. Kris Kampsen converted two penalty goals, and Mt. Brilliant/ELG kept Tonkawa off of the scoreboard for the duration of the period. With two chukkers played it was all even at 3-3.

Tonkawa took control of the game in the third chukker, scoring five unanswered goals and charging out to an 8-3 halftime lead. Roldan and Phillips opened the period by converting single penalty shots for goals. Phillips added another goal from the field and Roldan scored his second and third goals of the chukker to establish the five goal lead.

Roldan’s fourth goal of the morning extended the Tonkawa lead to six goals, 9-3. Bo Goodman scored his first goal of the day and Kampsen tacked on another penalty goal to end the chukker. Mt. Brilliant/ELG cut the Tonkawa lead back to four goals, 10-6.

Daniels scored on a beautifully executed backhander to open the fifth chukker but Tonkawa team captain Jeff Hildebrand got on the scoreboard on a well-placed shot at goal and Mt. Brilliant/ELG found themselves trailing by four goals again, 11-7.

Kampsen managed Mt. Brilliant/ELG’s only goal of the final chukker. Hildebrand closed out the scoring with his second goal of the game, on a penalty conversion for the 12-8 Tonkawa win.
